What is arthritis?
It is taken from two Greek terms, athron, which means joints and itis, which means inflammation. The term arthritis means swelling of the joints. Arthritis commonly badly affects people between the ages of 20 and 50, but can afflict all ages, even babies. The typical age one first experiences the early signs of arthritis is around 47 years old. According to the recent study, about three out of every five people with arthritis are under 65 years of age. It is referred to as the number one crippling ailment and the most widespread persistent disease. According to the Center for Disease Control, it involves over 40 million Americans and this number is anticipated to go up to 60 million by 2020.
