Cures For Bad Breath
While it is hard to believe that bad breath is a billion dollar industry, it is. Bad breath effects from young to old alike, and is one of the most embarrassing experiences of life, especially when you are in a social gathering. If the bad breath persists you may actually become associated with the foul odor and cursed with an unpleasant taboo. Many people are offended by mouth odor, and will tend to shy away. If you are wondering if you are a sufferer, cup your hand over your mouth and breath. Move your hand quickly to your nose and breathe in. If you smell and unpleasant odor than you too, are a victim of mouth odor.
Aside from the occasional dose of awful breath from the garlic and onions at lunch, bad breath is caused by too much bacteria in the mouth and conditions and illnesses such as periodontal disease and respiratory infections, diabetes, liver and kidney disease. Obviously, the first step is to visit your dentist for your regular six month checkup. Bad breath cures will depend on the terrible breath cause. If you happen to have periodontal disease than obviously, you will need to have the tartar and plaque removed. Scaling will be performed to clean around the teeth and clean the pockets that form in the gum. Often time’s medication will be prescribed to control the bacterial infections. Flap surgery may also be performed in which a small incision is made where the gum is affected expositing the deep roots which the periodontist will then clean.
Bad breath cures start with good hygiene. Instead of the typical twice a day brushing, brush after each meal and after sweet consumption. Floss your teeth regularly. And, brush your tongue once or twice a week with baking soda. If you cannot brush after a meal, eat an apple, this will clean your mouth of food particles and help to fight bacteria.
Replace your mouthwash with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water. Mix half tablespoon of the apple cider vinegar in a glass of water and gargle each morning for ten to fifteen seconds. This is one of the many great additions to bad breath cures.
Dry mouth also needs to be avoided. And, natural rinsing of your mouth needs to be increased. So, drink plenty of water. Our mouth naturally produces saliva, which is our natural mouth rinse, when the mouth does not produce the saliva; it gets dry and results in unpleasant breath.
Snack on carrot and celery sticks throughout the day. These are excellent at cleaning the mouth and fighting bacteria which causes terrible breath.
Stop smoking and stop drinking alcohol. These are two major contributors to mouth odor and bad health.Also, if you are a denture wearer, remove your dentures and put them in a sealed baggie for five minutes. Open the baggie and smell. If there is an unpleasant odor than the bad breath may be due to your dentures. Speak with your dentist about proper care. It should include soaking your dentures each night and cleaning.
