No Smokers Left in Britain in the Next 50 years

According to the City & finance page of the Daily Mail on the 8th Jan 2011

‘Britain & other developed countries could be stubbing out their smoking habits with in 50 years? That’s what one major investment bank is suggesting.
Their research indicates that there could be no smokers left in Britain in the next 50 years. This data used by Citigroup investment bank shows the percentage of adults smoking in the UK had dropped to 21% in 2008 from 53% in 1960, and there had also been a steady decline in most other developed countries.
The data also indicates, if these trends continue then by the year 2050, many important tobacco markets will have gone to zero smoking’.
