Cardiff University has recently been chosen to become it’s U.K. Centre of excellence in biomechanics and bioengineering. A R UK and Cardiff University have committed £10m to apply the very best expertise in engineering, bioscience, genetics and imaging to arthritis research in the new Centre.
The new centre involves a close relationship between biomedical scientists, engineers, orthopaedic surgeons, and rheumatologists. Hopefully, they will come up with some of the answers that we need to hear. If not finding a cure (which there is not as yet), then certainly making life easier for the current sufferers.

Abatacept, used along with methotrexate is currently recommended by the National Institute for Health, where other therapies have failed or been withdrawn for some reason.
