Try to keep yourself occupied when have a flare-up. This will keep your focus on other things and away from the pain. One more trick is to apply a muscle cream the night before to help with morning stiffness. This will help you to have a great start to the day.

Some tried and true pain treatments are heat and ice. Use ice to prevent pain after you knowingly overwork a joint. Use a gel pack or ice in a bag for 15 to 20 minutes, then remove for 10 to 15. This can be repeated for hours if need be. The second is heat. Use a heat pack or heating pad to sooth joints that are already swollen and tender joints. Do not baby your joints get in the habit of doing some easy everyday activity. Walking, bicycling or swimming are all great ways to keep you on the move.

Some foods have also been shown to help and hinder your flame ups. Fish, vitamin c and carrot juiced have all been shown to help with arthritis. You should also stay away vegetable oil, white potatoes, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant and tobacco to list a few. Well if you suffer from arthritis I hope these few tips help you out!
