Can Raw Food also be Fast Food?

“Fresh Raw food takes ages to prepare”, I have often heard this excuse.

This is certainly not the case, Raw food can be fast, easy and simple to bring into your life. We have an infinity of time, it is only a matter of becoming organized. Our eating patterns are only habits and with a little focus we can change those habits.

All around us people are conditioned to expect food immediately.

* One of the best solutions is to change your habits to snacking on fresh fruits and vegetables. Perhaps you had not considered an Apple, Orange, Banana or a Pear to be fast food. You don’t even need to remove the wrapping…there is none.

* A close second would be Smoothies these are a great example of Raw fast food, with a powerful blender (I recommend Blend Tech) there is no need to chop fruits and vegetables very finely, and you can create a satisfying snack in just a few minutes, smoothies are also rapidly digested, so your body has more energy for other tasks.

* One of my favorite Raw Food snacks is a ripe avocado sliced in half, seed removed with a teaspoon of olive oil, squeeze of lemon and a pinch of cayenne pepper, takes about a minute or so to prepare! Pretty Fast….

* When you are preparing a meal for the whole family Raw food requires no actual oven time: for example an average 3 pound chicken takes 1 hour 20 mins to cook. Whereas a highly nutritious salad can be prepared and ready to eat in under 20 mins!

* In a traditional diet the sandwich is often the easy fast option for busy people, however my suggestion is to replace the bread with a sheet of Nori Seaweed, then roll in the filing similar to traditional sushi wraps. Check out the website for filling ideas.

There seems to be a social misbelief that there is a shortage of time available to prepare fresh nutritious meals daily.

* Surrounded with all the junk fast food we have been numbed into expecting other people to prepare our nutrition “fuel” for us, perhaps there is a saving of short term time but in terms of longevity, our health will be aversely affected.

* It takes roughly the same amount of time to prepare a cooked breakfast as it takes to blend a smoothie.

* When you have a diet filled with highly nutritious and digestible Raw food a massive benefit is an increase in energy and less sleep required.

* Getting up earlier in the morning is very beneficial, if you can rise with the morning sun then you will be more attuned to natures rhythms.

* A family may use a microwave to speedily cook a meal, however many nutrients get damaged in the quest for speed. Every mother would consider that her family’s health is of the utmost importance.

The question to ask is; Is it more important to feed the family quickly? Or provide mineral rich and vitamin packed Raw Food?

* There is an important distinction between fast micro-waved food and rapid yet healthy food.

Fast food is just a bad habit. What is the best way to change a habit?

* Be organized and prepared, make sure you have your fruit bowl full and lots of fresh vegetables in the fridge.

* If your fruits and vegetables are at the bottom of your shopping list move them to the top.

* Essentially a habit is just a pattern that has been repeated over and over, break the habit by replacing fast food with healthy Raw Food options. Pause and ask yourself before eating any junk food… Will this cookie hinder or heal me?

* Just by bringing your conscious awareness to your eating patterns will assist in identifying weaker areas. Once identified, substitute fast food junk with Rapid raw food….Yum

* Another handy strategy is to wear an elastic band around your wrist, when you reach for that junk snack ping the elastic band to remind yourself to choose the healthy option.

Ultimately society has lured us into unhealthy addictions, but moving away from shiny crisp packets and burger joints does not have to be difficult. Be kind to your-self and begin substituting gradually.

Perhaps even allow for a few “naughty” junk snacks once a week. You don’t want to go cold turkey, experience a craving and then binge out. Experiment with making your own fruit smoothie blends with a combination of fresh fruits and a few frozen berries…I highly recommend Maquai berries as they are super delicious and have been scientifically proven to assist in weight loss.
