My First Bed And Breakfast

I have always been fascinated with architecture and old world style, especially from the Victorian age. So as you can imagine something like staying at a bed and breakfast is something I have always wanted to do, but I had never actually done it before, up until a couple of years ago. While my fiance and I were planning our wedding, I suggested for honeymoon that we stay at a bread and breakfast, and she thought that it sounded like a splendid idea. I then went online and started to search on all of the B and Bs that we could travel to, and after reading the reviews on dozens upon dozens of them, I finally found one near the Bruce Peninsula, near Irish Mountain. Since I was Irish myself, and had a great fascination with this culture, this could not have been more ideal for me.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect, as I had always stayed in hotels before, and since staying at a bed and breakfast means you are sharing a home with someone, it was definitely something that I felt was going to be an unusual experience. Whenever we arrived, we were greeted by the woman who owned the house, Jeanette. She was extremely friendly and showed us our room, which was extremely beautiful and had a king size bed, and a hot tub right outside on the deck. We spent a lot of time out on the deck and in the hot tub, taking in the breathtaking view of the mountain side and the lake below it. In the morning, the mist would rise off of the mountain, and we enjoyed the incredible breakfast that they brought to our room. We had an array of fruits, waffles, and eggs. It was unlike anything I had ever eaten before and the presentation was quite beautiful.

I have to say that there are many benefits to staying at a bread and breakfast, and I wouldn’t hesitate to do it again. It was one of the most relaxing experiences I’ve ever had, and all of my carers were far away while I was there. Our hosts were extremely generous and gave us many helpful tips for sightseeing around the area, which we enjoyed thoroughly. In the end, what I find the most fascinating of all, is the fact that it cost us no more to stay at this place, then it would have if we decided to get a hotel room. That is what is most striking about many of these B and Bs, is that most of them are quite affordable.
