  • Improved Job Prospects
  • In this short article I will be taking you through the different methods from home teeth whitening to laser teeth whitening. I will put them in the order of most simple and affordable to the higher end and most expensive methods out today. So lets start out simple first.

  • Whitening Toothpaste
  • Toothpaste is the most affordable and simple way of getting whiter teeth. As it is the cheapest, it also happens to take the longest amount of time. This is because it does not contain any of the bleaching agent known as hydrogen peroxide. It does however contain aluminum oxide and calcium phosphate which helps grind off stains from foods. Unlike bleaches though it does not alter the actual color of the tooth.

  • Teeth Whitening Strips
  • Strips are a form of home teeth whitening kits which are readily available online. They come in 2-6 week supplies and you place them over your teeth normally for 20-30 minutes. It does take a little bit of getting used to and can be a little messy. The strips themselves will contain a small amount of the bleaching agent, typically less than 10% so there is little or no irritation on the gum caused from this method. Results have been known to vary. Some people people have noticeably whiter teeth and others have little or no effect.

  • Home Teeth Whitening Bleach
  • Tooth whitening bleach known as hydrogen peroxide is also a treatment that can be done at home. It is more cost effective than going to a dentist and has a great effect on coloring the teeth. It is performed by applying the bleach in plastic trays for a short period of time. Trays will be in the mouth for about 20 minutes. This method has a high amount of hydrogen peroxide, typically between 10%-45%. You just need to be careful not to get any on the gums because this is strong enough to cause chemical burns, however the results are very strong also.

  • Laser Teeth Whitening
  • Laser teeth whitening is performed at the local dentist using light energy to accelerate the process of bleaching. The blue light lasers that are used increase a reaction with the hydrogen peroxide giving faster results. The dental grade solution is typically 25-38% and the procedure under the light lasts about 6-15 minutes. The main benefit of going to the dentist is that you reduce the risk of chemical burns by getting a professional to do it and many say it is the best teeth whitening system, however this is the most expensive form of treatment.
