Lady Gaga Costumes and Lessons in Courage From Lady Gaga

Let me say first, that I am a Lady Gaga fan. I like her music but want I really like is her message, her philosophy, her creativity, originality and courage. I’ve written about her before.

I’ve talked about why her fans want to dress like her in Lady Gaga costumes. I pointed out that she has courage and talked about the reasons why her fans wanted to be like her and have courage too. I’ve also talked about taking lessons from Lady Gaga in creativity and originality and her message of being yourself.

Since officially licensed Lady Gaga costumes have come out for sale, there are hundreds of web sites selling her costumes. I think that’s great on one hand, although I have encouraged fans to take some part in changing the costumes to demonstrate their own creativity. To web sites selling her costumes, I wish them well. In my opinion the world can always use more out there fashion.

Now this is the ironic part. After having had articles published extolling the virtues of originally and creativity I suddenly found that what I had written was being used a lot on the internet and being represented as having been written by whoever owned that site. Think about that; reproducing articles about creativity and originality as their own and claiming them as their own. It would almost be funny if it weren’t so sad.

When I wrote the articles and they were published, I agreed that they could be used by others if they were properly credited and had links to the original published. What I’m talking about here are ones where these terms were chosen to be ignored. In some cases these sites were selling her costumes.

Sometimes the articles were published with the sole aim of drawing visitors to their sites. As I said in those very articles, millions of people search on the internet for anything to do with Lady Gaga. Some unscrupulous internet sites use a popular search term to draw visitors when they are really selling something completely different. Although this is obviously frowned upon, the fact is it happens.

I’m no Shakespeare and I didn’t write the great American novel. I know they were capitalizing on her name, not my insightful and thoroughly wonderful writing style.

So I took the proper steps. I notified them and in most cases that took care of it. When it didn’t I’ve notified who I needed to. I suppose I could have ignored it, but that didn’t seem like the right thing to do.

So back at the ranch, I was thinking about writing something else and I realized I was afraid. I decided I just wasn’t going to write anything else until after Halloween. Then I thought about those virtues I had talked about and I thought about courage. It just didn’t seem very courageous. I have no idea how she maintains her courage with so much criticism and sometimes downright meanness that is sometimes directed her way. If I can’t have just a little bit of that in my small corner of the world, then I haven’t learned anything either.

Now some might say I’m doing the same thing and capitalizing on her name. It may seem naive to believe otherwise. I’m really the only one that can tell for sure what’s in my heart; but you see I’m not just a Lady Gaga fan, I’m also a fan of her fans. I hope I can provide products and information to help them find what they are looking for in their quest to look like her.

So here it is. I don’t know if it will be published. I hope so because maybe someone else could use a little inspiration for something in their day. Those virtues I’ve been talking about can be learned from many sources; celebrities, family members, friends and sometimes from people who remind us of what we don’t want to be.

And yes, I do have Lady Gaga costumes for sale, and yes I do hope that people buy them. But what I really hope is that if people are going to emulate anything about her, don’t just want to look like her and wear her costumes. If you really want to be like her, be original, be creative, be courageous and stand up for what you believe in. If we don’t we are nothing more than meat hanging on a bag of bones.

Although I strive to apply certain principles and values in my life, I believe a little bit of Lady Gaga style, some glitz, glamor, music and socializing adds to the joy of living life with love, balance and laughter. Love, live, laugh and Just Dance.
