Making the Most of Macbook Insurance

Macbook insurance might change the way you think about your Macbook.

The reason for that is that if you don’t have such insurance protection, you’re probably always slightly on edge with regard to the safety and security of your Macbook.

There’s nothing necessarily wrong with that but if it starts to impact the degree of freedom with which you use it, then that’s a pity.

For example, if you’re always edgy about taking it around with you in case it gets damaged or destroyed, then you may not be getting the full benefit of it. The same may apply if you’re always worried about it being stolen.

Then there are concerns about what happens if it breaks down. If that happens in the manufacturer’s warranty period then you can (hopefully!) easily get it dealt with by the retailer or manufacturer but if it’s outside of the warranty period then you may find some serious bills arriving on your doorstep.

Macbook insurance typically can help in those sorts of areas including some policies being able to guarantee you a 48-hour replacement of your device once your claim has been okayed.

That may help you use it and get the best out of it, with just that little more peace of mind and freedom of action.

Of course, that’s not the same thing as saying you can behave in a cavalier fashion and disregard all thoughts of its security and your responsibilities.

For example, some policies may require that it is locked away securely in a location such as your home or car if it is to benefit from theft protection whilst unattended.

If you have a rush of blood to the head and leave it unattended on a café table while you pay the bill, well, you may typically (and perhaps not unreasonably) expect to see your subsequent theft claim refused!

Another illustration might arise in the context of theft and the police. You may be obliged to notify the police of any theft within 24-hours of it happening and obtain a crime number.

If you don’t do that, the insurance provider may have no unbiased evidence that any theft actually took place and again, they may refuse your claim.

As with any insurance product, terms and conditions, exclusions and limitations will apply and you may wish to read these carefully to ensure you understand them.

So, Macbook insurance just might make you a little bit more confident when you’re out and about with your Macbook!
