Motorcycle Lights That May Save Us

When looking at any devices we can add to our bikes to warn others that we’re out there, technology has come up with plenty of things to add to our rides to start knocking our chances down for getting hit by the people in larger vehicles. There is some good news, though I went snooping around and found out that the death rate has dropped in the last year, no one knows the exact reason but whatever the reason is we’ll take it.

Speeding and driver attention are the main reasons folks are getting hit, and we’re leaning more towards the drivers attention as the majority reason. Seems the drivers aren’t going to figure it out, especially now that we got cell-phones, iPod’s, video players, and all that sorta stuff in the cars now-a-days. Lotsa distractions for us on the outside of the car to have to contend with. One thing that people do respond to are lights and noise, that is why motorcycles are noisy, If we could get folks to stop running over us we could make the bikes quieter, some bikes are quieter and those riders are mostly good defensive riders, mostly I said, we still have a few yay-hoos out there. We all have to be on the defense, I don’t think there is any such thing as offensive riders, maybe aggressive, but not on the attack.

There’s a new sheriff in town and he went and got all smarty pants on us and figured out another safety factor for us riders. Scotty’s invented a safety light system that let’s the car people know we are on the highways with em’. If you have this system on your bike, (Harley Davidson’s right now, but time will change that) and you’re blasting along enjoying the ride and suddenly you see some yay-hoo in front of you who doesn’t seem to be doing what they should be doing as they’re heading your way, you can flash em a 5 second burst of high powered light and they will straighten right up and act proper.

I know a lot of you folks out there been ridin’ since you was baby’s, but it can’t hurt to have a few extra safety weapons in your arsenal as you ride these “Mad Max” highways.

Hmmm, now that I’ve shared this knowledge with you, it comes to mind that you almost can’t afford not to have this system on your Harley.
As of this writing, the lights are being designed for other motorcycle brands.

Remember, “Life’sJourney is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting… What a Ride!!”
