Ultimate Barking Problem Prevention

Barking problems can be frustrating to the owner and his neighbors, and also to the dog. To the owner and his neighbors, the problem is the noise but to the dog, it means a lot. The problem signifies his needs, his discomfort, or his pain. So what are you going to do to spare us all of the problem? It’s simple and easy but it is what most pet owners neglect to do: TRAINING. Training should be done while your pet is still a pup: You and your pet can have many benefits if you train him early. You can train him personally or if you don’t have the time, have him trained by a professional in an obedience school or puppy preschool which are now known worldwide. Many veterinary practices are affiliated by these schools so it will be easy for you to look for one but if you don’t have the money, and you don’t know what to do, then this article is written especially for you.

There are different ways to train your dog and one might be more effective than the other. You must first try it all and choose what best suits your dog. Dogs can learn in many ways and can be trained through the following methods:

1. Auto training. This is the simplest method because it doesn’t even require a great energy. You simply wait for the dog to do the things you want him to do, then you reward him after with puppy treats to a simple pat. It depends on how you want it.

2. Lure/bait training. You attract him to do the thing you want him to do by giving him treats. For example, you want him to sit; you place the treat in the chair.

3. Forcing. The most traditional form of training and for me, this is the most tiring way. Using your dog’s leash and prompting him to do the things you want him to do.

4. Rewarding. You reward him with a treat, pat, or praise when he performs the proper behavior.

5. Punishment training. This is the least suggested form of training. You punish your dog when he does something improper and this way may result to a negative feeling to both of you and might destroy your relationship. Always remember that praise and not punishment will do the training for your dog. Just think about your own son or daughter, did you spank them during the times when they fail to write their own names at pre-school?

6. Modeling. Like children, puppies also follow the things that older dogs do. For example, if you want them to pee outside, you should let an older dog show the puppy how and through this, they will learn from observation.

7. Group learning. The training which allows your pup to socialize with others so they will all learn simultaneously.

These are the different ways of training. and you can use one or a combination of methods. The key to have a successful training is to be patient and you must always be consistent in training him. Training will prevent future problems. And as the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure”.
