Health Club Marketing

Proper health club marketing is vital to the overall success of your business. Great health and lots of exercise is stressed to all of us through newspaper, media and magazines. We all want to look good and feel good. The concept of a health club is fantastic, so make the gym a success from the get go! How can you do this? I have a few ideas for you:

For starters, a website is crucial. The website you publish should be eye catching, informative and have plenty of content. Offer different types of specials for those who come to your club. Printable coupons are helpful that offer discounts in personal training, buy one get one free deals and bring a friend discounts. People like to feel a community atmosphere when going to a gym. Put pictures of all staff and owners on the website complete with their bios. What will the hours of operation be? What is the monthly membership fee? Do you offer weekly rates or drop in rates?

A great location for a gym is either in a corporate building or next to one. Why? People like to escape their office at lunchtime and what a great way to have a work out or people who are just getting off of work, like to exercise for an hour before going home. You will have instant traffic to your location. Offer specific discounts for people that work in the building. Talk to nearby businesses about what your gym has to offer and ask to post a poster in their break room for exposure and in turn offer a free 90 day membership.

In speaking to local businesses, check out the favorite lunch spots around. Talk to the owner about a lead box. A lead box is a box near the check out of a restaurant or favorite lunchtime joint where you put your business card in to win a free membership. What does the owner of the lunch place get? They can get an equal membership to the person who would win. This way, there is no money directly out of your pocket!

Nothing spreads better than word of mouth. Email all of your family and friends in the area. They will provide free marketing for you and get some people through the door. If your gym is set up well, organized and informative staff, the good news of your new gym will spread fast! Offer things like: free MP3 player for the 1st, 50th, 100th visitors…chance to win a day at the spa, free week with a personal trainer, etc. Make sure your health club marketing stays within your budget!
