How To Harness Your Stamina and Feel Great

Are you the type of person who prefers to stay indoors rather than spending time outdoors?

Let us look at this – did you know that you are lacking that perfect exposure to negative ions when you are spending a lot of time indoors? Additionally, spending a lot of time indoors can cause fatigue, can lead to poor motivation and moods, can make you feel pain and aches easily, and the feeling like you are sick all the time.

What Are Negative Ions?

These are tiny bits of charged matter present around the air. Experts say that there are negative and positive ions. Louisa Deasey, from Herald Sun Body + Soul, stated that negative ions are simply oxygen ions with extra electrons in it that came from water molecules. This is the reason why there are various amazing supply of these ions near pure flowing water like rivers, waterfalls and ocean.

“This clearly explains why you are feeling refreshed after you took a bath when you are feeling stressed out.”

Negative ions are most abundantly found in natural and outdoor areas. Experts, after measuring the air surrounding a waterfall, came up with findings that has between 95,000 to 450,000 negative ions in each cubic centimeter. However, in an office environment, experts found only a hundred to zero negative ions in each cubic centimeter! Just a little scary, I know.

How Many Negative Ions Surrounds Us?

  • A mountain, sea-shore, or breezy forest may contain between 50,000 – 100,000 cubic centimeter
  • A country pasture may contain between 5,000 – 50,000 cubic centimeter
  • Most cities may contain a very low number between 100 – 2,000 per cubic centimeter
  • Rooms with air-conditioner is considered to be at their worst with only 0 – 20 per cubic centimeter
  • If you think that is the worst part, just consider: A report in 1998 study, conducted by Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), shows that negatively charged air proves to be an effective cure to prevent depression.

This means, you are not just feeling great and always in a good mood for no reason at all – negatively charged air is the reason and it can also help you from falling ill. Nowadays, European institutions regulate that hospitals and offices should have a mandatory ionization of air inside them. This regulation may be because of a study made by a Russian professor in 1930 that negative ionization can actually sterilize air.

That made me think that I need to take a vacation and head to the beach this week!

    Have You Heard of Chi?

Better known as Qi, is a Chinese term to describe energy matter. In short, it is an old Chinese term particularly to positive and negative ions. If you are a regular in Tai Chi class (Qi Gong class), Yoga or attending a Body Balance sessions, the idea of Chi and balancing it must be familiar to you.

Knowing how to balance Chi or giving yourself daily exposure to negative ions can greatly improve your health, stamina, self-motivation and moods.

Using Negative Ions to Improve Your Energy and Make You Feel Happier

There is no need for you to resign from your current job and live on land – however, one week or more of connecting with nature, like a camping trip with your friends, can certainly help you feel recharged and relaxed than spend your holiday in a city.

Ways to Surround Yourself with Negative Ions

  • Set up a water fountain or grow live plants in your area. You can have either one of these, if you cannot afford both. It is better if you set it up in your garden. If you do not have a garden, then you can have it set up in your home office.
  • If you are smoking, you need to stop particularly if you are in an indoor environment.
  • Dry your clothes or your hair in fresh air as much as you can, as this increases the negative ions around you. Try to avoid using electrical dryers.
  • Exposure to artificial light reduces the negative ions around you so use low-wattage bulbs when at home or at work, if possible.
  • Make sure to turn the electrical appliances off at power point, especially when using it in your bedroom.
  • Preferably exercise outdoors. It is best if you can find a place near a river or a place where there is running water.
  • Try spending at least 15 minutes each day in a park or garden rather than going to a mall or crowded places. If you can walk around in bare feet, it is better.
  • Wear clothes made from natural fibers such as cotton and linen.
  • Whenever possible, limit the usage of air conditioning. When you are in a car or at your house, leave the window open and turn your air condition off.
  • Go for fresh or organic foods by doing your shopping in a farmer’s market for a healthy lifestyle. Forget about frozen or processed foods.
  • Lastly, if it is possible, take a rest day from your work and go to the beach!
