How To Prevent Premature Wrinkling Of Skin

It is every person’s wish to have a healthy, smooth and no wrinkles face for as long as they can possibly maintain their youthfulness. Learning how to prevent premature wrinkles appearing on the face is no secret.

Wrinkles form when the skin loses its elasticity. As long as the skin is supple, any crease of the skin disappears as soon as you stop making the expression that caused it.

But skin that has lost its suppleness retains the lines formed by smiling or frowning even after you have assumed a more natural expression. Over time these lines deepen into wrinkles.

Some amount of wrinkles is a result of aging and is inevitable. However well you care for your facial skin, you will develop some lines if you live long enough.

The first sign of wrinkles usually appear in the delicate tissue around the eyes, the cheeks and the lips. As we age, our skin becomes thinner and dryer. Both of which contribute to the formation of wrinkles.

There are other factors which can determine the rate and the extent of wrinkling. These include diet and nutrition, habitual facial expressions, muscle tone, skin care habits, stress, exposure to environmental pollution, lifestyle habits and heredity.

Direct sunlight is your skin’s worst enemy. Exposure to the sun not only dries out the skin but also damage the skin cells. Over exposure does not necessarily means sunbathing or sunburn. Eighty percent of sun damage is incurred during daily activities such as walking, working in the yard, driving long distance in a car. The ultra-violet rays that damage your skin are present all day long and in all seasons.

How to prevent premature wrinkling of skin

1. Drink at least 4 to 6 glasses of water every day. This helps to hydrate the skin and flush away toxins and discourage the formation of wrinkles.

2. Eat a well-balanced diet of whole grains, variety of vegetables and fruits to provide your skin with the nutrients it needs.

3. Cut out saturated and meat fats. You can obtain fat from cold-pressed vegetables oil like Olive oil and from fruit like Avocados.

4. Avoid alcohol, caffeine and cigarette smoking. These substances dry out the skin, making it more vulnerable to wrinkles formation.

5. Protect all skin types from the sun. Always apply a sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 15 and above. Apply to all exposed areas of the skin, especially the face regardless of the season or the weather.

6. Exercise regularly. Like other organs of the body, the skin is the largest organ, gets its nourishment from the bloodstream. Exercise increases the blood circulation to the skin.

7. Exercise your face by extending your jaw in an exaggerated chewing motion. Stretch the muscles under your chin and the front of your neck.

8. Do not use alcohol-based toning products. These are harsh to the skin of the face. Consider using witch hazel or floral water instead.

9. Practice good skin care and keep your skin well moist with lotion, especially if it is dry.

10. Avoid using harsh soaps or solid cleansing creams on your face. Use natural oils like olive and avocado oils to remove dirt and makeup. Apply it gently to your face and rinse it off with warm water. Use a facial sponge to remove dead skin cells and stimulate circulation.

11. After cleansing your skin, apply lotion to moist while the skin is still damp. This is quickly absorbed and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.
