Travel Coffee Mugs Help Keep You on the Go

These days, everyone has so much to do that there is no longer any time to just sit down at the kitchen table to enjoy your morning cup of coffee. You have to take it with you. The problem is, this is not practical with a regular coffee mug. The solution to this problem is a travel coffee mug. Travel coffee mugs keep coffee warm whenever you take it and have a lid that prevents the contents from spilling. They can also be used with cold drinks such as iced tea since they will also effectively keep such beverages cold.

There are two technologies used in travel coffee mugs to hinder heat transfer and keep the liquid inside either hot or cold: insulation or vacuum flask. Insulation uses the function of certain materials, such as Styrofoam, in the lining of the travel mug to prevent heat transfer. The vacuum flask technology uses the same method used in thermos bottles: a glass envelope with a vacuum inside is placed inside the mug and protected from breaking with metal or glass housing. The glass envelope is also silvered to further ensure that the liquids inside stay at their proper temperatures. Travel mugs are usually made of plastic or stainless steel.

Travel coffee mugs make terrific promotional giveaways, since they effectively help build goodwill for your company while they are being used by clients. However, the one downside of travel coffee mugs is that design options for them are limited by the space considerations required when placing insulation or a vacuum flask in the mug. Still, functionality and durability are more important factors when choosing a travel coffee mug, since you want your customers to be using the mug for a long time to come.

Other considerations for travel mugs are comfort and efficiency of use. The lid should be easy to open while still being secure enough to keep the liquid inside from spilling even if the mug is being used inside a car; it should also have design elements that show the user how to close the lid properly. However, avoid travel mugs that have rubber seals or plastic lids since these may become warped due to the wear and tear of everyday use.
