Reasons to Stay In Shape While Pregnant

Exercising while pregnant is safe as long as the workout routines fall into the low to moderate range of aerobic activity. In fact, working out while your pregnant has many health benefits, including the following:

Increased energy: Just as exercising when not pregnant is good for the mind and body, so is exercising when you’re expecting. With the many changes going on in your life, it’s important to perform activities that will reduce your stress and keep you focused on the bigger goal – creating a loving space for the new addition to your family.

Improved circulation: Bad circulation can have negative side effects on your body, including tingling and numbness in the extremities, aching feet, and cramps. Exercising is a good way to combat those negative effects.

Reduce labor complications: Through exercise you are preparing your body for labor. When you’re body is in good health and shape, the delivery will run with less complications, including the possibility of avoiding a C-section.

Cut the amount of weight you gain. It’s difficult to lose the baby weight once your pregnancy is over. Exercising throughout your pregnancy ensures you don’t gain a lot of weight. There’s also the added bonus that you won’t be completely out of shape cardio wise when you resume more intense workouts after you give birth.

Though the majority of pregnant women can exercise safely when pregnant, it is always a good idea to check with your doctor before you begin a workout regimen. There are some women who cannot exercise at all due to a delicate pregnancy. As a result, it’s always best to talk to your doctor about your workout plan.
