Why Do I Procrastinate? Learning Time Management

There are very many reasons why a person does procrastinate. Let us examine just a few.

One reason may be that you don’t think to be competent enough for this task or duty. This can conduct a person to not beginning what should be done. And once this idea has come up, procrastination may become a long- term situation. It can last until the opportunity to carry out the task has gone. That means disappointment. Just to start with. Change for Life: Make Your “GET To Do List”

“There is more to life than increasing it’s speed”- Ghandi

Somewhere along the line, for most of us, life became an endless To-Do List of tasks and errands. We fell into a vicious “cram-it-in and cross-it-off” cycle. Life began to look really dull as one day just faded into the next. Even purely pleasurable activities, like eating, holidays and sex wound up as just another chore. We are over- scheduled, exhausted zombies.

What’s So Great About Procrastinating?

Do you procrastinate? That’s a silly question because we all do, to a greater or lesser degree. Procrastination is simply putting off until tomorrow something you can do today. The jobs we put off are those that we find to be boring or monotonous or (we think) involve too much work. We say we don’t have time to do these things. And the truth is the job/task becomes more unpleasant the longer we put off doing it. Fortunately there are some techniques to help you stop procrastinating. Try them and see what works for you.

Time Management

What is time management? How can you manage your time? Do you have enough time to do what you want during your day?

Time is a valuable thing that we all have, yet many people don’t know how to use it wisely. The most common statement that I hear all the time from people is “I don’t have time.” Many people keep coming up with excuses for not doing what they love to do such as reading, exercising, spending time with the family among other things. Some people, however, who are the minority, say there is not enough time to do what they want to do in their day.

Time Management – Priority List Building

A good exercise for completing a list of priority tasks is to use a system called time-blocking. Having compiled a list of specific tasks to be completed within a given week, you should have those tasks written down in a priority order. Now on a weekly calendar these can now be placed into time slots each broken down into 15 minute segments, this is the process of time-blocking. The beauty of this system is that it does not have to just be used with work tasks, it can equally be applied to home life as well.

Do Something More Useful With Your Time

Did you know that there is a thing called ‘post materialism blues’? I think people get it when they realize they’ve spent an inordinate amount of time, effort and money to ‘get’ material things, only to realize that once they’ve got them, any happiness those ‘things’ brought, quickly evaporates. I have certainly known the feeling. I was once lucky enough to pick up a brand new Mercedes from the dealer. Yes, it was mine (and the finance company’s). I had worked hard for it and I felt I deserved it. At the time, I was also trying to demonstrate externally a level of success that wasn’t really there. Still, it did feel good driving it away from the showroom. In fact, it felt very good. Very good indeed.

Time Management Made Easy Just for YOU

Managing your time is more than managing your work – it’s managing your life. The essential ingredients are realistic honesty and the ability to say no.

I have a friend who is chronically late-forever playing catch up. For me, she is an irritant because she refuses to change even when I have given her the tools to do so. She believes her life is so much more involved than the lives of those around her so everyone should understand. What a crock of hooey.
